Charlotte, NC – January 29, 2018 – DiscoverReady®, a leading information intelligence solution provider specializing in legal, compliance and governance, today announced the expansion of its global footprint and Data Liaison Services to help multinational corporations and law firms better meet growing regulatory obligations in data privacy, information governance and legal discovery.

DiscoverReady established a new data center in Paris in December, 2017 to deliver local and cross-border e-discovery services. The center offers data processing, data hosting in Relativity, document review capabilities, and data production services. The company also operates two data centers in the U.S. and provides data hosting across the globe via an on-demand rapid deployment model.

The expansion effort also includes global delivery of DiscoverReady Data Liaison Services, designed to help organizations reduce the risk and cost of protecting, managing, and discovering their information assets. The Data Liaison Services team of consultants works daily with legal, risk, data, security, and compliance professionals and their law firm counsel to assess, design, plan and implement programs supporting data quality, privacy, security, records compliance, and e-discovery.

DiscoverReady recently expanded its leadership team to guide the growth initiatives. Matthew Nelson, industry veteran, attorney, and legal technology expert joined DiscoverReady as Vice President of Information Governance Services and Associate General Counsel, Privacy, leading the Data Liaison Services team.

“Our strengths lie in our broad experience and longstanding relationships with leading global brands in financial services, technology, pharmaceutical, energy, retail and other industries,” said James Schellhase, CEO of DiscoverReady. “Every organization has existing processes, preferences and goals, but there are often gaps that increase the risk of error. We work with law firms and corporations to develop an e-discovery playbook, defining standard processes that are repeatable and defensible.”

DiscoverReady consultants will be on hand at Legalweek in New York, January 30 – February 1, in Booth #401 at the Legaltech tradeshow, to speak with attendees about their needs for a repeatable and defensible e-discovery process.

Industry Veteran Matthew Nelson to Guide Growth of Consulting Services

Charlotte, NC – January 26, 2018 – DiscoverReady®, a leading information intelligence solution provider specializing in legal, compliance and governance, announced today the appointment of Matthew D. Nelson to lead the company’s growing consulting organization. In the newly created role, Nelson will focus on expanding the company’s information governance service offerings and serve as AGC of Privacy & Security.

Nelson is a nationally known attorney, legal technology expert and author with 20 years of experience, and a co-founding member of the Association of Corporate Counsel Information Governance Committee. Nelson’s career has focused on helping enterprises develop best practices for managing risk resulting from the explosive growth and mismanagement of electronic information. Most recently Nelson served as law and technology attorney in Symantec’s Corporate Strategy group, where he monitored and interpreted privacy and data security policy developments important to global business strategy, and served as the company information governance champion. Nelson previously served as senior electronic discovery attorney at Clearwell, a software startup company that significantly influenced modern eDiscovery best practices, culminating in a merger with Symantec.  He started his legal technology career serving in various business and strategy roles with Summation, Marsh & McLennan (Kroll Ontrack), and EMC2, after practicing in complex litigation with Bay Area firm Ropers, Majeski, Kohn & Bentley.

“In this era of big data, organizations increasingly need a coordinated approach to address many critical legal and compliance requirements – managing information risks while optimizing information value,” said James Schellhase, CEO at DiscoverReady. “Matt’s superior legal, technical and practical experience, along with his passion for client service will be a great asset to DiscoverReady as we focus on meeting that growing demand and helping our clients proactively embrace information governance.”

“It’s an exciting time to join this dynamic organization,” said Nelson. “The DiscoverReady team has deep experience helping some of the world’s best-known corporations and law firms identify and remediate short and long-term risk and cost across several information governance disciplines including e-discovery, privacy, security and records management, to name a few. The success of DiscoverReady is the result of hiring great employees who possess the business, technology and consulting acumen to help customers address the many legal compliance challenges resulting from explosive data growth and mismanagement.  I look forward to helping DiscoverReady build upon its market-leading reputation for exceptional, high-quality delivery so we can continue to help our customers address existing challenges like e-discovery, new challenges like GDPR compliance, and to break down Information Governance from an almost overwhelming concept into discrete, actionable solutions for specific challenges pertinent for each customer.”

Nelson is a member of the California and Idaho State Bars, and he holds the International Association of Privacy Professionals CIPP/US certification. He earned a Juris Doctorate from the University of Idaho College of Law and a Bachelor of Science, Political Science, from the University of Idaho.

iManage, the company dedicated to transforming how professionals work, today announced that Burness Paull – one of Scotland’s leading independent commercial law firms  – has selected iManage Cloud for its 500 users to deliver secure document and information management.

Burness Paull saw the migration of its existing on-premises iManage Work implementation to iManage Cloud as a way to continue its long-standing relationship with iManage while increasing the firm’s scalability and agility.

“Moving the responsibility for managing infrastructure and software updates to iManage, rather than managing it in-house, made a lot of sense,” said Billy Kirkwood, IT Director, Burness Paull. “With iManage Cloud, our professionals get reliable access to the document and email management tools they’ve long depended on, while IT can focus on new ways to create and deliver value to the business.”

For enhanced security, Burness Paull will also be adding two iManage cloud-based applications to protect critical client data. With iManage Security Policy Manager, the firm gains a scalable way to manage ethical walls, segment data and implement a “need-to-know” security model. And iManage Threat Manager creates a unique electronic thumbprint from historical data for each user to detect internal and external threat actors with the highest level of accuracy.

“Like most high-profile firms, we have clients with very demanding security requirements,” added Kirkwood. “The implementation of sophisticated tools like iManage Security Policy and iManage Threat Manager enables us to meet – and in many cases, exceed – client requirements around protecting their privileged information.”

iManage partner Phoenix Business Solutions is helping Burness Paull with its migration of iManage Work to iManage Cloud and its deployment of iManage Threat Manager and iManage Security Policy Manager.

“iManage delivers the industry’s leading Work Product Management capabilities with scalable, reliable performance and features specifically designed for professionals,” said Geoff Hornsby, General Manager, EMEA, iManage. “This proactive approach to security serves as an important differentiator for Burness Paull when clients are choosing which professional services firms to entrust with their information.”

Technology Concepts & Design, Inc. (TCDI), announces the launch of SecureLaw 365, a cybersecurity service designed specifically to address the complex data privacy obligations of law firms.  The program delivers an in-depth evaluation of a firm’s current level of security by identifying cyber exposures and then developing an action plan for improving cybersecurity.

SecureLaw 365 provides access to cybersecurity thought leaders and cutting-edge tools that would otherwise be too expensive to bring in-house.  It offers a simplified, cost-effective cybersecurity program for small to medium-sized law firms to improve data privacy practices and safeguard client information.

“TCDI’s cybersecurity team has provided proactive security services for more than a decade, and now has developed SecureLaw 365 to further assist small and medium-sized law firms to meet their ethical obligation to safeguard client data,” said Tim Opsitnick, Executive Vice President and General Counsel of TCDI.

Law firm data security practices are increasingly being scrutinized and audited by corporate clients given the privacy concerns associated with the data entrusted to them.  The likelihood of failing these audits is high without an effective cybersecurity program, and the consequence is often the loss of a key client.

SecureLaw 365 is designed to help law firms protect client data as well as prepare for the inevitable data security audit.  To achieve this goal, TCDI assesses cybersecurity from a technical, procedural and end-user perspective.  Services include:

·                  Cybersecurity assessments

·                  Penetration testing

·                  Vulnerability scanning

·                  Managed social engineering tests

·                  Automated security awareness training

·                  Chief Security Officer on-demand

·                  Cybersecurity newsletter subscription

SecureLaw 365 was developed based on TCDI’s deep understanding of the legal industry’s strict data privacy requirements and best practices.  The litigation services division of TCDI is entrusted with petabytes of sensitive client data that is stored in its fully owned and operated 5,000 square foot Tier 3 data center.

“As a trusted partner in some of the largest and most complex litigation in the world, our clients require the highest security standards.  Accordingly, we regularly undergo the same data security audits that law firms encounter,” said Bill Johnson, CEO of TCDI.
