A legal marketplace has many advantages for buyers in need of legal services. Think of it as a platform like Zillow: You can put in a variety of criteria to perform a search, and then analyze the results and find exactly what fits your needs, whether that is a certain price, location, type of transaction or almost any other data point you would want to use. Companies searching for legal services on Priori Marketplace can find lawyers on our network to handle almost any kind of project. The most common needs fall into four main categories:

  1. Project based support, whether niche expertise, local counsel or simply searching for cost-effective alternatives

  2. Overflow support for high-volume company work (commercial contracts, NDAs, healthcare agreements, employment matters, marketing and advertising, data privacy and security, etc.)

  3. Staffing support, including secondments

  4. Supporting outside counsel diversity and inclusion initiatives

If your legal department is looking to hire outside counsel, you might be wondering what finding a provider on a legal marketplace looks like, and what the advantages are compared to your other options. Using a legal marketplace is as easy as performing a search. Learn how it works in this article.

The Challenge

Deploying a server-based document viewing solution like PrizmDoc is a fantastic way to view, annotate, redact, and compare multiple file types within your application. When your customers need to access and manage several files or large documents, those viewing requirements can put a lot of pressure on your server. Utilizing more server resources not only increases your operational costs, but also impacts viewing performance for customers as the server works to process the file and deliver rendered versions to their device.

The Solution

Accusoft’s PrizmDoc now features a versatile Hybrid Viewing feature that offloads document viewing capabilities to the end user’s device, which conserves valuable server resources and significantly improves viewing performance. By reducing the majority of processing work, as well as ongoing page views as the user scrolls through the document, to local devices and minimally accessing the server for initial document preparation, the Hybrid Viewing feature significantly reduces server requirements and allows users to access and view documents faster. This new feature is for the viewing of PDF files. For files not already in PDF format users can take advantage of the new viewing package which converts any file format to PDF. This helps to dramatically reduce resource-intensive rendering work that frequently impacts viewing performance, and the experience has the same responsiveness as if the user is viewing documents in a local application.

Do You Need to Engage with a Managed Service Provider

Info-graphic

An IT managed services provider (MSP) can help your organization access a highly skilled and dedicated IT team without it being an in-house resource. They can effectively manage your infrastructure and cloud demand and ensure your other crucial IT infrastructure runs smoothly. Although many companies prefer initially to take care by themselves of their IT environment, with the growth of the business, the complexity is increasing rapidly and you either need to recruit more IT people or outsource part of the activities externally.

The salaries for infrastructure managers and cloud experts in the USA are starting from $154,728 per year according to Indeed.com. These costs increase with all the additional spending on recruitment agencies and headhunters. So in reality maintaining a vast IT team internally may consume a significant budget and still does not guarantee that everything will run smoothly and with no downtime.

Engaging with an experienced managed service provider can help you solve some of the toughest IT challenges:

  • Increased complexity
  • Demand for better availability and security
  • Avoiding vendor lock-in
  • Paying thousands of USD for licenses
  • Staying compliant

In this info-graphic, the team of CloudScale365, Inc. is helping you to find out whether it is the right time to engage with an MSP. Answer a few simple questions and find out!

For many legal departments, the outside counsel selection process still relies exclusively on word of mouth referrals. In fact, 47.4% of legal operations professionals say they have no formal process for hiring outside counsel, according to The Blickstein Group’s 15th Annual Law Department Operations (LDO) Survey Report. The report comments that “the methods used to engage outside counsel remain rooted in the past,” which is “extremely problematic.”

It makes sense that many attorneys aren’t taking advantage of outside counsel data and technology-driven procurement processes—the old saying “if it isn’t broken, don’t fix it” still rings true for many people. However, legal departments that are pursuing these avenues are often able to achieve ambitious cost-savings, time-savings and diversity goals. Priori’s Marketplace and Scout platforms offer ways to leverage data and technology to make the outside counsel hiring process seamless.

When it comes to legaltech, the term can have different meanings to different people. At its most fundamental level, it means technology used by attorneys and other professionals in the legal industry to get work done. At Priori’s recent webinar, “Building a Tech-Powered Legal Practice: Myths & Questions About Legal Technology,” our Marketplace Network Director, David Drew, Ashley Carlisle, Corporate Attorney & Head of Marketing at HyperDraft, and James Sherer, Partner, Co-Chair Emerging Tech Team at BakerHostetler, dug into the different ways technology is used in the industry and shared advice for attorneys interested in streamlining their processes using legaltech. Here are some of the highlights from their discussion.
